Oatmeal, Turkey & Veggie Dog Biscuits Made With Leftovers

Creating a customized treat for your fur baby is a great way to bond and share with them a unique life experience. So much love goes into homemade dog biscuits. Not only that, this recipe allows your pupper to get in on the meals you create for yourself or your family. Never throw away your leftovers again! This biscuit recipe will turn them into healthy, no-funny-ingredient-added treats for the canine members of your family.

Oatmeal, Turkey & Veggie Dog Biscuits

(makes between 16 & 32 biscuits)

*These could easily be made with leftover roast chicken and chicken broth/stock.*

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups oat flour (quickly make your own by blending oats in a high-speed blender or food processor)
  • 2 cups turkey and whatever cooked veggies you have on hand (I used roasted sweet potato, butternut squash and green beans)
  • Turkey broth or gravy

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a high-speed blender combine the meat, veggies, and enough stock to puree everything.
  3. Pour into a medium mixing bowl.
  4. Start with 2 cups of flour and begin mixing. You may need to add more flour to get a consistency you can work with.
  5. Once the dough is ready you have two options. Option 1: scoop and drop the batter directly onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet then press down with the tines of a fork to spread out the batter. Option 2: you can go the extra mile — roll the dough out and cut out shapes using cookie cutters. I have a bigger dog so I made fewer but bigger biscuits; you can easily make smaller ones for little dogs.
  6. Once the biscuits are prepped, bake them for 30 minutes or until they are nice and golden.
  7. After thirty minutes, turn the oven off but leave the biscuits in the oven while the oven cools. This will help them continue to dehydrate.
  8. Store in the fridge or freezer depending on how fast you’ll use them.
