Why did you decide to start this business?

The idea was in my head for about 6 years but my business officially launched only 3 years ago.

What makes your business stand out?

The artistry in the creation of an authentic bond between animal and human is almost palpable and emotionally uplifting to my clients.

What is a typical day like at your business?

I wake up with praise for a brand new day and run an enlivening worship song then my day really begins with a simple breakfast of hot tea and boiled oats. The rest of the day involves at least 5 hours spent on brand promotion, web maintenance, social media interaction with a 20 minute exercise break and maybe a painting tutorial. My evening includes social media and watching a podcast and then it would be bed time at about 12 am.

In regards to my business, I was informally mentored by a blogger-friend who would teach marketing snippets. I learned to focus on Marketing Strategy vs. Tactics, Positioning, Differentiation of my product.

What matters most to you in your business?

What do you love about working in the pet industry?

I love art, fashion, and dogs — these are my passions. The bonus has been becoming an influential thought-leader and the expert pet artist that everyone thinks of first when the words “pet portrait” comes to mind. Also, building a strong, faithful clientele and being able to impact the world we live in.

What kind of pets do you have and what are their names?

I’ve had lots! Mostly, the “recent” ones belong to my family, my elder sister and her family. Their names: Asa (the African Ridgeback), Ace (the beautiful long haired German), Haru ( the black Great Dane), Maru (the Pit Bull), Buffy (of the Vampire Slayer fame), Bobo, Gigi, Mueller (the stubbornest Basset Hound) and my very own mongrel pet, Bobby, whom I grew up with.
